LA Tech Opens Series With Middle Tennessee Friday Night

The Bulldogs and Blue Raiders begin three-game set Friday at 6 p.m.
RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech is set to host its third conference home series as Middle Tennessee travels down to Ruston.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (27-11, 11-4 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming off four straight victories and eight of the last 10. The Bulldogs took the three-game series at Marshall two out of three games and took down Little Rock and Northwestern State over the midweek.
The Bulldog pitching staff has notched five straight games punching out 10 or more batters. LA Tech pitching sits in the top 20 in the nation in K/9 averaging 10.6.
Taylor Young leads the squad in nine different hitting categories. The senior shortstop also leads the conference with 50 runs scored and sits at tied for seventh in the nation. Young also leads the conference in walks (32) and triples (4).
Bulldog right fielder Steele Netterville has been on a tear at the plate. The three-hole hitter rides a 10-game hitting streak into the weekend while batting .405 with four homers, three doubles and 15 RBI in that span.
The Bulldogs will stick with the same pitching rotation as last week. Cade Gibson will get the Friday night start. Ryan Jennings will throw in game two on Saturday and Sunday is to be announced.
ABOUT MIDDLE TENNESSEE (19-16, 9-6 C-USA)
Middle Tennessee rolls winning five out of their last six games with a midweek win over Belmont and a conference series win over Charlotte two games to one.
With a 9-6 Conference USA record, the Blue Raiders sit just three games out of first and two games behind the Bulldogs going into the sixth weekend of conference games.
Having played in all 15 conference games, JT Mabry leads the ball club with a .404 batting average in those games with 23 hits, four doubles and six RBI.
Right-hander Zach Keenan and Eriq Swan will both make their 10th starts on the mound. Keenan posts a 3-3 with a 4.99 ERA and will get the nod Friday night. Swan gets the start Saturday and works a 7.75 ERA in 38.1 innings pitched. Sunday is to be announced for Middle Tennessee.
THE SERIES
The Bulldogs and Blue Raiders will meet for the 29th time on Friday night. LA Tech has taken the last five games against the Blue Raiders. LA Tech and Middle Tennessee have not met in Ruston since 2018 when the Blue Raiders won two out of three games. The last seven meetings took place in Murfreesboro; LA Tech is 6-1 in those ball games.
