TEXARKANA –
James Swash fired a two-under-par 70 Monday during the first day of the 2022 Conference USA Men's Golf Championships at Texarkana Country Club.
Swash, tied for sixth place and just three strokes off the lead, was Louisiana Tech's top performer on Monday with a round that included 14 pars, three birdies and just one bogey.
As a team, Tech sits in tie for 11
th place (out of 13) teams with two days of stroke play remaining. The top four teams after 54 holes are completed will then compete in match play semifinals and finals on Thursday. Round two action begins at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning.
The Bulldogs are nine-over-par (297) and are 11 strokes out of fourth place with 36 holes remaining. Tuesday's second round is slated two start at 8 a.m. The Bulldogs are slated to tee off at 8:50 a.m. on Hole No. 10.

Florida Atlantic (281) leads the team competition at seven-under-par followed by Rice (284), UTSA (285), Southern Miss (286), UTEP (287), North Texas (292), UAB (292), Charlotte (294), Middle Tennessee (294), WKU (296), Tech (297), Marshall (297) and Old Dominion (302).
Sixteen student-athletes knocked in under-par rounds led by Marshall's Tyler Jones who leads the 65-player field with his 5-under 67. FAU's Max Sturdza is in second with a 4-under 68 while three players are tied for third at 3-under 69: Michael Rome (UTSA), Raghav Chugh (Rice) and Hunter Bott (UTSA).
