LA Tech Set for Final Two Midweek Contests

The Bulldogs face the Warhawks and Demons in final two midweek matchups

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech is set host UL-Monroe and travel to Northwestern State for the final two midweek matchups of the season with both contests to start at 6 p.m.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (30-15, 14-7 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming off of a 2-2 record on the week, but taking a major conference series win over Old Dominion back home. The Bulldogs dropped the midweek game at Little Rock and game one of the series at Old Dominion until bouncing back Saturday and Sunday to win the series.
 
Bulldog right fielder Steele Netterville leads the team in home runs with 11 as he launched another long ball in Wednesday night's ball game at Little Rock. The three-hole was hit an impressive .444 in 18 at-bats over the four-game week with a home run, 9 RBI and two doubles tying the programs all-time doubles record previously held by T.J. Soto with 58.
 
Taylor Young leads the squad in nine different hitting categories. The senior shortstop also leads the conference with 59 runs scored and sits at sixth in the nation. Young now leads the conference in stolen bases too as he swiped four bags on the week. The senior is 19-for-21 in stolen base attempts this season.
 
Freshman utility player Thaxton Berch made his presence known this past week in the lineup as he hit .364 notching his first career double in Saturday's win at Old Dominion.
 
ABOUT UL-MONROE (15-26-1, 6-14-1 Sun Belt)
UL-Monroe rolls into play after being swept by Little Rock over the weekend.
 
The Warhawk offense is led by outfielder Mason Holt hitting .327 on the year with a team-leading 10 home runs, 11 doubles and 25 RBI.  
 
ABOUT NORTHWESTERN STATE (21-22, 9-9 Southland)
The Demons go into the new week having lost two out of three to Southeastern Louisiana over the weekend in Natchitoches. Northwestern State is 4-3 in their last seven games since facing the Bulldogs in a 6-4 loss two weeks ago in Ruston.
 
The offense as a whole is hitting .244 with Gray Rowlett leading the charge with a .287 batting average. Jeffrey Elkins has provided the power blasting nine homers and slugging .523 on the year.
 
THE SERIES
LA Tech and UL-Monroe will meet for the 126th time while LA Tech leads the all-time series 74-51. The Bulldogs have won nine out of the last 10 meetings. The Bulldogs and Warhawks met earlier this year in Monroe as LA Tech took the midweek contest 8-4. The last time the two programs played in Ruston, LA Tech came out on top 9-7.
 
The Bulldogs and Demons will meet for the 135th time on Wednesday night with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 82-52. LA Tech and Northwestern State faced off just two weeks ago at the Love Shack as the Bulldogs came out victorious 6-4. The two schools have not met in Natchitoches since the 2019 season when the Demons won 3-1.
