DALLAS – For the second consecutive year, Louisiana Tech's Steele Netterville and Jonathan Fincher were named to the 2022 Conference USA All-Academic Team.
 
Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and Florida Atlantic were the only schools with multiple student-athletes on the 11-member team.
 
Netterville was accepted into medical school in May of last year, but decided to return back for his fifth year as a Bulldog. The fifth-year senior graduated with a degree in biology and is currently pursuing his second degree in kinesiology and health sciences. He currently holds a 3.93 GPA. This is the fourth straight year Netterville has been a part of the conference All-Academic team.
 
The Shreveport native started in all 56 regular season games in right field. Netterville is tied for the team-lead with 13 home runs with a .311 batting average. In his senior season, the right fielder slugs .545 and is second on the squad with 62 RBI. Netterville now holds the program record with 60 when he doubled down the line back on May 7 versus Florida Atlantic.
 
Fincher recently graduated with a degree in biology and is also pursuing a second degree in kinesiology and health sciences and holds a 3.905 GPA. The redshirt-junior earns All-Academic for the second time while at Tech.
 
The left-hander leads the ball club in wins after earning his seventh on Saturday in a 14-5 victory in relief. Fincher is tied for second in conference in wins and boasts a 3.50 ERA, the best out of Tech starting pitching, in 64.1 innings pitched.
 
The pair of Bulldogs will open the 2022 C-USA Baseball Championship, presented by The First against No. 7 seed Charlotte. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg, Miss.
