CHOUDRANT – Louisiana Tech's
Lake Juban and
Will Patrick anchored the team in round two of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate as the duo both carded 69s to lead the first unit of Bulldogs to a 288 (E) on Monday at Squire Creek Country Club.
Â
LA Tech's even score on the day was the best round in its top grouping that also featured ULM, Houston and UTSA. The 'Dogs remain at -12 and are in fifth place going into the third and final round on Tuesday.
Â
Patrick had a tough start to his round with a double bogey on the opening No. 10. However, he birdied No. 14 and No. 17 to get back to even par before making the turn to the front nine. And just like round one, he found his groove in this part of the course as he birdied No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 to finish up at -3 (69) and in a tie for fifth individually at -6.
Â
Juban was equally as effective on the back nine, birdieing both Par 5's while also carding a birdie on Par 4 No. 14. He went even par on the front, bracketing back-to-back bogeys with a couple of birdies on No. 4 and No. 8 for -3, putting him at -5 for the tournament and in a tie for eighth.Â
Â
Thomas Henson shot +2 on the day to make him Even through two rounds. His scorecard was clean on the back nine with one birdie on No. 14 to go along with eight pars, but three bogeys on the front nine costed him.
Â
James Swash and
Hunter Battles both carded 76s (+4), putting the Bulldogs at -1 and +7 for the tournament, respectively.Â
Â
The second unit was led by
Grant Smith who ended day two with a 72 (E), carding four bogeys to go along with four birdies, including one on the final hole on No. 9 to get to even par.Â
Riley Hnatyshyn was right behind him at +1, making the turn with a 34 before coming home with a 39 to give him a 73.

QUOTABLES
Head coach Matt Terry
Â
"We did not execute as well as we did yesterday, but I still love what I am seeing out of this team and am looking forward to a strong finish tomorrow.Â
Lake Juban and
Will Patrick got after it today. Both are within four shots of the lead and look for them to be in the mix and push those guys at the top of the leaderboard. I was also happy to see a couple of the guys play better in our second wave. It is going to be a fun final round tomorrow."
