RUSTON – After a breakout freshman season, the accolades continue to roll in for Louisiana Tech Sophomore
Sierra Sacco as she was ranked as the No. 97 player in the nation by D1Softball.com in its Preseason Top 100 Players list the organization announced on Tuesday.
Sacco is coming off a record-breaking freshman campaign in which she batted .441 with a school-record 83 hits, 54 runs scored and 21 runs batted in. The Centerfielder was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year, first-team all-conference and First Team NFCA All-Mideast Region.
The Marrero, La., product ranked fifth nationally in hits (83), eighth nationally in batting average (.441) and 14th nationally in on-base percentage (.535).
Joining Sacco from Conference USA on the preseason list were Bailey Vannoy of Charlotte, Caroline Hudson of Liberty and Kailey Gamble of North Texas.
LA Tech opens its season on Feb. 11 when they host Southeast Missouri State at 4 p.m. for game one of a three-game series.
