Plumb Anchors Bulldogs in Round Two at Blackthorn

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Freshman Jake Plumb was the bright spot for Louisiana Tech in round two Monday, shooting a 70 (-2) as the Bulldogs completed another 18 holes at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges as part of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Starting on No. 10, Plumb was two-under through the first eight holes played with birdies on No. 11 and No. 14 before those were erased by a double bogey on No. 18. He recovered on the front nine though with three more birdies and just one bogey to be the lone LA Tech golfer finishing in the red on day two.
After shooting a 77 in round one, his 70 in round two vaulted him up 30 spots on the individual leaderboard putting him in a tie for 45th.
Both Lake Juban and Will Patrick shot a 76 (+4), which was the second lowest score of the day for the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, Niilo Maki-Petaja did not have the same success as he did yesterday after setting the program record for lowest round by a freshman.
After shooting a 64 in round one, Maki-Petaja was up-and-down on his way to a 77 (+5). Despite the round two score, the freshman is still tied for eighth going into the third and final round.
LA Tech shot 299 as a team, putting the 'Dogs in 14th. They will be paired with Virginia Tech and CUSA foe Liberty for round three.
