LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Tech put together its best round of the 38th annual UL-Lafayette Classics on Tuesday, shooting 299 (+15) to finish in 14th at the two-day event held at Oakbourne Country Club.

Seven teams finished under par in last season's tournament with the winning team Texas A&M shooting -47 (817). The Aggies won it again this year, but they ended up shooting +14 (866) as the course played much more difficult due to cold, windy conditions.

LA Tech ended up tying with LSU and SMU for the fifth-best round three with four of the six Bulldogs shooting 76 or better.Â

The top Bulldog was
James Swash who tied for 28th at +13 (79-74-73=226), marking the fifth straight tournament the fifth-year senior has finished in the top 30.

The top score in round three for LA Tech belonged to
Thomas Henson who shot Even par 71 to tie for the fourth-best round of the 83-person field on Tuesday. He ended up tying for 40th, carding +16 (82-76-71=229).

Riley Hnatyshyn had his best round of the event, shooting +5 (76) including an eagle on the par five No. 7. The fourth score used Tuesday by the 'Dogs was that of
Lake Juban who shot +8 (79).Â

The third best finisher for round three and the entire tournament for LA Tech was
Peyton Johnson. Playing as an individual, he shot +5 (76) on Tuesday and ended up tying for 43rd at +17 (81-73-76=230).

UP NEXT
LA Tech heads to Houston next week to participate in the All-American Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Houston. The Bulldogs will compete March 20-21.
