EUGENE, Ore. | Louisiana Tech record holder and All-American
Rodney Heath Jr. is set to compete in the 2023 Toyota United States Track and Field Outdoor Championships tonight in Eugene, Ore. at 6:30 p.m. in the men's 100m.
Heath Jr. will join 32 other athletes across four heats in tonight's prelims, where the top three times in each heat plus the following four fastest times will advance to Friday's semifinals. The men's 100m final will run later Friday night, with the top eight semifinal times advancing.
Heath Jr. burst on the scene in his first year in Ruston grabbing three indoor and outdoor Conference USA medals, in the 60m, 100m, and 4x100m, and holds LA Tech records in the 60m (6.64) and 100m (9.99). The Kentucky transfer qualified for the NCAA East Regional in the 100m, where he earned a spot in the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas, finishing 23
rd overall.
