LOXLEY, Ala. – Jake Plumb shot a season-low 69 (-3) as Louisiana Tech finished up the final round of the Steelwood Collegiate on Sunday, tying for 11th at the Steelwood Golf Club.
Â
It was a tough third round for LA Tech, which dropped three spots on the team leaderboard after shooting 293 (+5) for the day with most of the big numbers coming on the front nine.
Â
Even Plumb had a stretch of big numbers, going double bogey-bogey-double bogey on a three-hole stretch, which came after three consecutive birdies. However, the sophomore found his groove again, draining five straight birdies on holes 8-12 and added another on No. 14 to finish as the top Bulldog at three-under and tied for 28th on the player leaderboard.
Â
Oskari Schuvalow was the lone Bulldog to shoot at or under par on the front nine with an even par 36. The sophomore overcame a double on No. 10 and bogey on No. 12 to make three birdies coming home for a 72 (E).
Â
Morton Bailey had a similar run down the stretch, making birdies on No. 11, No. 12, No. 15, and No. 18. An unfortunate lie on the par three No. 17 led to the freshman shooting 75 (+3).
Â
The fourth scorecard used by LA Tech came from
Niilo Maki-Petaja who was not able to rekindle his magic from the first two rounds, shooting 77 (+5). Even so, the sophomore still registered his fourth top-20 finish of the season, tying for 18th.   Â
Â
No. 12-ranked Illinois ended up taking home the team title.
