LANAINA, Hawaii – Niilo Maki-Petaja and Oskari Schuvalow each shot two under par as Louisiana Tech completed round one of the Ka'anapali Classic on Saturday at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
 
LA Tech shot two under par (282) as a team on the Par 71 course, finishing the day in 13th among the 21-team field.
 
Maki-Petaja nearly made it a bogey-free round as the sophomore on bogeyed his last hole of the day which was No. 11.  Other than that, it was a clean sheet while registering birdies on all three of the par fives, shooting two under (69).
 
His teammate Schuvalow had nearly the same scorecard.  With his only hiccup coming with the bogey on No. 18, the sophomore birdied each of the three par fives on the front nine to shoot a season-low 69 (-2).  Both Bulldogs are tied for 38th on the player leaderboard.
 
Morton Bailey was at three over after seven holes, but the freshman would shoot three under on his final 11 holes, including making a birdie on the finishing hole No. 12, to card a 71 (E).  The fourth scorecard used for LA Tech after 18 holes was that of freshman Freddie Surgey who shot 73 (+2). 
 
No. 2-ranked Oklahoma is atop the leaderboard after round one.
