Box Score RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech dropped game two against Southern Miss, 11-3, on Saturday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park after late runs put the Golden Eagles ahead. Tech scored three runs and had seven hits with two errors while Southern Miss placed 11 runs with eleven hits and one error.Â
Tech got on the board first following an error from Southern Miss's outfielder that allowed
Dalton Davis to get to second and
Kasten Furr to score in the bottom of the first. The Golden Eagles took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after an Ozzie Pratt RBI double, a Dalton McIntyre RBI single, and a bases-loaded RBI walk from Billy Butler. Tech's
Cole McConnell tied the game after he picked up two RBIs on a double to right field, scoring
Kasten Furr and
Will Safford in the bottom of the fifth inning.Â
Southern Miss recaptured the league in the top of the seventh inning following a fielder's choice throwing error from
Ethan Bates that allowed two runs to score. The Golden Eagles capped a big ninth inning, picking up six runs and putting the game away for Tech.Â
LA Tech's pitching had another troublesome outing, giving up ten-plus hits for the second game in a row.
Ethan Bates struck out two batters and walked one while
Luke Nichols had five strikeouts on Saturday afternoon.Â
