Four Bulldogs Earn NTCA Honors

RUSTON — The National Tenpin Coaches Association announced on Wednesday morning that four Louisiana Tech bowlers earned All-Region and All-Rookie honors. Patricia Rosales and Allie Leiendecker earned All-Central Region honors, while Kylee Trexler and Abbie Leiendecker were named to the All-Rookie team.

The All-Region and All-Rookie teams were the result of voting by participating head coaches.

Rosales earned Second Team All-Central Region and has been one of the top bowlers in the country all season. The graduate student has three top-10 finishes, including tournament MVP at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite. Rosales ranks in the top 10 nationally in single-pin spare percentage (3rd, 94.7), Baker frame average (8th, 20.95), and strike percentage (9th, 53.7).

Allie Leiendecker received All-Central Region Honorable Mention after another stellar year for the Bulldogs. She helped LA Tech to 10 top 5 finishes, including three tournament wins. Individually, Allie Leiendecker has nine top-25 finishes, including a tournament MVP at the SWIBC II. She leads the team with a 54.7 percent strike rate, eighth in the country.

Freshman Kylee Trexler and Abbie Leiendecker were named First Team All-Rookies.

Trexler picks up her second postseason honor after being named CUSA Freshman of the Year. The Indiana native leads the freshman with a 20.60 average per frame and is just one of three to average over 20.00 for the season. She is third on the team with a 52.5 strike percentage and makes 70.5 percent of her spares.

Abbie Leiendecker, who graduated a year early to bowl one season with her sister, has lived up to the expectations that come with her last name and the Bulldog bowling program. She ranks in the top five among freshmen in traditional average (2nd, 20.46), single pin spares (4th, 90.6), overall average (5th, 19.80), and 9+ first ball percentage (5th, 72.8).

The NTCA is set to announce the All-American Teams, Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards on Thursday, April 11, after the NCAA National Championship Banquet at approximately 6:30 p.m. CT.
