Bulldogs Strengthen Roster with Signing of Torres

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Josh Taylor strengthened his roster by signing Reese Torres, who will join the Bulldog softball program after transferring from George Washington.

Torres spent her freshman and sophomore seasons in Washington D.C., appearing in 88 games while starting 66 and posting a .251 batting average with 50 hits, 11 home runs, 12 doubles, and 39 RBI. She recorded seven multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games during her two seasons with the Revolutionaries.

"We are excited to welcome Reese to the Louisiana Tech softball family," Taylor said. "From the beginning of our recruiting process with Reese, it was clear that Louisiana Tech was a wonderful fit for Reese and our softball program. She brings an explosive left-handed bat and a passion to compete to Ruston. We could not be more excited to get started this fall."

Torres batted .284 with 23 hits, five home runs, five doubles, 21 RBI, and 11 walks in 81 plate appearances as a sophomore in 2024. She posted five multi-hit games during the season and batted .700 in the final regular season series against St. Bonaventure, collecting seven hits, three doubles, a home run and nine RBI.

As a freshman in 2023, Torres made an immediate impact, starting all 45 games and leading the team with six home runs, the fourth-most all-time from a George Washington freshman. Her .463 slugging percentage was the second-best mark on the team, and her .808 on-base plus slugging ranked third.

"In following God's path, I found a home at Louisiana Tech," Torres said. "I want to thank Coach Taylor, his staff, and the community of Ruston for being so welcoming and making it feel like home. I'm forever grateful and excited to finish my softball career as a Bulldog."

A native of Great Falls, Va., Torres prepped at Langley High School, where she was a three-time all-district and two-time all-region selection. She was ranked as Extra Inning Softball's No. 88 prospect overall for her class. Torres also finished as the schools' all-time female weightlifting champion in the bench, deadlift, squat and clean.
