RUSTON - The Louisiana Tech men's and women's track teams closed their opening competition of the 2025 season on Saturday at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.

Brian Johnson said following his team's performance. "They showed me the resilience that I was looking for after a tough day of travel on Thursday. We are off to a good start and had some great performances this weekend."

Saturday was highlighted by transfer senior
Oscar Smith's performance in the 60-meter hurdles, advancing to the finals and earning a victory with a time of 7.74 seconds, setting a new indoor program record.

Osaretin Joy Usenbor also had herself a standout result, tying the program's 300-meter indoor record at 39.32 on Friday.

Coach Johnson and the Bulldogs return to action for the LSU Purple Tiger in Baton Rouge on Friday, January 17.

- Six Bulldogs set new personal records on the opening day of the meet
- Five personal records were set by five Bulldogs during the final day of the meet
- Four Bulldogs from the men's squad advanced to the final round in their respective events (Karo Oghomi – 60-meter; Oscar Smith, Tibet Sancak, Urijah Williams – 60-meter hurdles)
- Oscar Smith won the men's 60-meter hurdles, setting a new personal-best 7.74 in his victory
- Sabastian Bradley-Reed set a new men's indoor program record in the 300-meter with a time of 33.88
- Osaretin Joy Usenbor tied Saran Kouyate's women's indoor 300-meter record at 39.32 seconds
- Praise Ofoku jumps to fourth in the 200-meter clocked at 24.26, and 15th in the 60-meter with a time of 7.60
- Jamara Patterson (3rd, 39.51) and Jenaia Williams (6th, 40.13) also moved into the top 10 in the women's 300-meter
- Laeden Tucker (4th, 35.12), Mekhi Gammons (5th, 35.13), Philip Gray Jr. (6th, 35.22) and Cullen Hronek (7th, 35.54) jump into the program's top 10 for the men's 300-meter
- Karo Oghomi (12th, 21.83), Jaylon Owens (13th, 21.84), Tim Rummelhagen (15th, 21.88), and Abdulraof Oriade Rashid (17th, 21.90) move into the indoor men's 200-meter top 20
- Freshman Jacob Tabor recorded the second-fastest indoor 600-meter time by a Bulldog at 1:21.41
- Jaden Brown jumps to ninth in the 60-meter with a time of 6.81, followed by Devin Walton (11th, 6.84), Abdulraof Oriade Rashid (12th, 6.85), and Karo Oghomi (15th, 6.86) moving into the indoor top 15
- Donald Lamp's toss of 18.41 meters in the weight throw put him in fourth in the program's standings; Duke Pascoe moves to 10th with a performance of 13.65 meters
- DeMarko Lawler Jr.'s long jump of 6.90 meters was good enough to push him to 12th on the program's indoor record list
- Kimeone McLeod moves to eighth after a performance of 8.54 in the 60-meter hurdles
- Aliyah Eugene's high jump of 1.70 meters put her in the top five
- Kaitlyn Washington's weight throw of 17.28 meters placed her among the top five
- Karo Oghomi qualified for the 60-meter finals, finishing fourth with a personal-best 6.77
- Osaretin Joy Usenbor finished fourth in the 400-meter with a time of 55.04, followed by Jamara Patterson
- LA Tech's women's 4x400-meter relay 'A' group (Jamara Patterson, Osaretin Joy Usenbor, Jenaia Williams, Nia Wiley) saw a top-five finish on Saturday with a time of 3:40.81
- The men's 4x400-meter relay 'A' group (Laeden Tucker, Tim Rummelhagen, Mekhi Gammons, Cullen Hronek) finish among the top 10 with a time of 3:16.19
