MOBILE, Ala. – Louisiana Tech's
Freddie Surgey and
Riley Hnatyshyn each finished at two under after 36 holes on Monday in the Hal Williams Collegiate.

LA Tech shot 287 (+3) followed by 283 (-1) to end day one in 11th on the team leaderboard at the RTJ Magnolia Grove Golf Course.

Through the first 18 holes, Hnatyshyn and
Niilo Maki-Petaja had the top scorers for the Bulldogs as each shot Even par 71. Surgey was one stroke behind with a 72 (+1) while
Gray Kingrea shot 73 (+2).

After combining to make just 11 birdies in round one, the five Bulldogs combined to make 18 in round two led by Surgey who made a season-high seven, including three straight on No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7, in route to tying his season best round at three under (68).

Hnatyshyn found his birdies on the back nine, including a stretch of four birdies in five holes, where he shot 31. The junior would end up shooting a career-best two under (69). Surgey and Hnatyshyn are tied for 21st on the player leaderboard.

Oskari Schuvalow and Kingrea had the other two counted scores for LA Tech in round two shooting 72 (+1) and 74 (+3), respectively.

SMU, ranked 15th in the country, has an eight-stroke lead going into Tuesday.

LA Tech will play the third and final round of the Hal Williams Collegiate tomorrow. It will be another 8 a.m. CT shotgun start.
