GREENSBORO, Ga. – Louisiana Tech withstood the elements on Monday, overcoming gusty winds of 20+ miles per hour to climb eight spots in round two of the Linger Longer Invitational.
Â
The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee played as completely different golf course on day two. Only three holes played under par compared to nine in round one. As a result, out of the 95 competitors there were only 14 rounds at or under par compared to 44 yesterday.
Â
Despite a slow start for LA Tech through the first four holes on the back nine when the team shot a combined 11 over, the Bulldogs hunkered down and ended up shooting 295 (+7) which tied for the fourth-best round of the day while vaulting them into seventh with 18 holes to go.
Â
Oskari Schuvalow matched his round one score with another 72 (E). The sophomore was two over through four holes but caught a heater making five birdies in the span of eight holes, including three of the Par 5s, to end the round tied for 16th on the player leaderboard.
Â
Morton Bailey played steady golf all day, shooting 37 on the back and 35 on the front to also card a 72 (E), jumping 39 spots to finish 36 holes in a tie for 34th. The third scorecard used was that of
Niilo Maki-Petaja who utilized back-to-back birdies on No. 15 and No. 16 to help shoot 74 (+2). The sophomore is tied for 24th.
