Bulldogs Have Strong Showing at Arkansas Spring Invitational

The Bulldogs finished with two top-10 performances, seven PRs and four season-best

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Louisiana Tech track & field teams continue to write their names inside the program's record book. The Bulldogs saw two top-10 performances, seven PRs and four season-best at the Arkansas Spring Invitational at John McDonnell Field on Saturday.

Oscar Smith wrote his name in the record book for the second time this year. The program's indoor 60m hurdles record holder seamlessly transitioned to the outdoor and the 110m hurdles. The senior transfer ran a 13.67 to finish fourth in the meet and seventh in program history.

Kimeone McLeod ran a PR for the second time this season for LA Tech. The Florida A&M transfer finished sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.35 seconds.

Abdulraof Rashid, Karo Oghomi and Cobe Johnson each ran their best in the 100m this season. Rashid and Oghomi broke into the top 15 with a 10.49 and 10.52, respectively. Johnson's time of 10.89 was his personal best and won him the second heat. Johnson followed that with a season-best 7.25m in the long jump. Valentino Rudolph and Devin Walton finished in the top two spots of their heat at 10.53 and 10.55.

Nia Wiley set a new personal mark of 54.85, and Faith Traver ran her season-high 56.57 in the 400 meters.

During the middle of the running events, Annie Jones and Tia Reder made high marks on the field side. Jones set a personal best of 41.34m in the javelin, while Reder won gold in the triple jump at 12.04m.

In the women's 200m, Tyhra Charles came from behind to win the second heat at 23.72 and nearly held on to win the event. After the fourth and fifth heats, Charles finished in sixth overall.

A new team cracked the 4x400 relay top 10 performance list. Rudolph and Gammons already have the seventh-fastest time with Laeden Tucker andSabastian Bradley-Reed. This time, Cullen Hronek anchored the Bulldogs and Tim Rummelhagen led off for a time of 3:09.35 for the 10th fastest time, and finished second in the meet.
