LA Tech Soccer Welcomes New Addition To Fall 2025 Roster

Jasmine Walia comes to Ruston as an experienced defender from Calgary, Alberta.

RUSTON – Head coach Steve Voltz and the Louisiana Tech soccer program have officially signed newcomer Jasmine Walia.

"Jasmine brings a great deal of athleticism as well as a good range of passes," Voltz said about his newest player. "Her technical abilities and her 1-versus-1 defending will help us immediately."

Walia is a 5-foot 8-inch defender, primarily as a fullback and center back, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and born in London England. She brings high-level experience having played for the highest club level in Canada in her age group.

She spent her freshman year at Saint Leo University in Florida, helping lead the Lions to the semifinal round of the SSC Conference Tournament, which is known as one of the most competitive conferences in Division II.

Walia captained the Nike Team Elite XI Girls Squad in April 2023, where she played a year above her age group among 15 other selected players across Canada. She was also invited to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Calgary Caps to College Squad, which is listed as an academy team. She currently holds a roster spot on Calgary Villians FC League 1 Alberta Women's Squad, which is a Pro-Am team under the League 1 Canada Network.

"I chose to come to Louisiana Tech because I feel ready to take my game to the next level and LA Tech stood out to me because of its culture and competitive environment," Walia said. "The coaching staff is amazing, and the soccer program is strong. The decision felt right, and I know I will become a better version of myself on and off the field."
