BATON ROUGE, La. – Donald Lamp broke the Louisiana Tech hammer throw program record for the second time this season at the LSU Alumni Gold at the Bernie Moore Track & Field Stadium on Saturday. The Bulldogs came away with six other top-10 marks.
Â
The men's hammer was the second event of the day and the first for Louisiana Tech. Lamp qualified in sixth with a throw of 57.13m on his third attempt. He quickly moved into second in the finals with a 59.62m on his fourth attempt. His record-breaking mark came on his fifth attempt, where he launched the hammer 60.44m, breaking his own record by 0.43m. He now holds the top three marks in program history.
Â
Already holding a top 10 mark this season,
Oscar Smith came away with the seventh-fastest time in program history in the 110m hurdles. Smith finished third at the meet with a 13.55, just 0.01 slower than the second-fastest time in program history.
Â
The next two top marks came in the following two events as
Osaretin Joy Usenbor and
Sabastian Bradley-Reed came away with the second-fastest times in the 400m. Usenbor ran a 52.71 for the 42nd fastest time in the country this season. Bradley-Reed clocked a 45.98 for the 35th fastest time so far this year.
Like they have done all season long, the 4x400 relay teams continued to put on a show.
Tyhra Charles,
Faith Tarver,
Jamara Patterson, and
Nia Wiley clocked a 3:33.86 to finish third, narrowly edging Patterson, Usenbor,
Jenaia Williams and Wiley's time of 3:33.93 earlier this season for the fifth fastest in program history.
Â
Tim Rummelhagen, Bradley-Reed,
Cullen Hronek and
Valentino Rudolph finished just 0.45 seconds behind the program record with a 3:06.16. It is the 26th fastest time in the country this season. It also marks the third different combination of runners to record a top 10 mark in the 4x400 this season for the Bulldogs.
