STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Louisiana Tech track and field teams opened the Maroon and White Tune Up with the men's hammer throw and the women's discus at the Mike Sanders Track Complex on the campus of Mississippi State on Thursday.

Duke Pascoe opened the meet with top 10 program marks in the hammer throw.

Lamp continues to cement his name as one of the best in the hammer in program history with his fourth mark in the record book. A week after setting the program record for the second time this season, the junior stepped up on his third attempt and nearly set a new record again. Coming up just 0.17m (6 inches) short to finish at 60.27m (197-9) for gold, the second-longest throw in program history.

In just his second time competing in the hammer on the collegiate level, Pascoe placed himself ninth in program history. The freshman launched a throw of 56.95m (186-10) to finish third at the meet.

The final event of the day for the Bulldogs was the women's discus.
Kaitlyn Washington came up just short of hitting a top 10 mark but did come away with gold. In third heading into her final throw, Washington scored a distance of 47.45m (155-8) to jump over two Mississippi State throwers to come away with the win.

The Maroon and White Tune Up will conclude on Friday, with the field events starting at 10 a.m. and the running events beginning at 3 p.m.
