Bulldogs Overcome Weather Delay at Maroon and White Tune Up

Jamara Patterson and Sabastian Bradley-Reed run top-10 program marks

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Louisiana Tech track and field teams overcame a three-hour rain delay to set two top 10 program marks, four PRs and three event wins on the second day of the Maroon and White Tune Up hosted by Mississippi State at the Mike Sanders Track Complex on Friday.

The Bulldogs' first event was at 11 a.m. with the women's high jump. A'reil Williams came away with the first event win of the day with a height of 1.75m (5-8.75).

The men's long jump would be the last event to finish before rain started coming down. Meet officials would set three restart times before finally returning at 5 p.m.

Out of the break, Tucker McCoy set his personal best in the javelin with a 56.33m (184-10).
The wet track didn't slow down the Bulldogs, who continued to set top-10 program marks with two more.

A week after Osaretin Joy Usenbor recorded the program's second-fastest time in the 400m, Jamara Patterson edged her teammate for that spot with a 52.66 to win the event. Patterson's mark is the 40th-fastest time in NCAA Division I this season.

Usenbor finished second at 53.24 with Tyhra Charles at third with 54.76. Nia Wiley gave the Bulldogs the top four finishers at 55.14, while Jenaia Williams set a PR at 55.54.

After becoming the second LA Tech athlete to break the 46-second mark in the men's 400m, Sabastian Bradley-Reed set the fourth-fastest mark in program history at 46.16. Cullen Hronek had a personal best of 48.26.

Oscar Smith, the Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Week, just missed the performance list. Smith ran a 13.70 to win his second event of the year.
