MOBILE, Ala - Taylor Woods notched 15 kills in a four set battle against South Alabama, losing 3-1 in Mobile Saturday afternoon.
Woods tied the match lead with 15 kills, the second most by the true freshman this season. Kylie Rodriguez followed with 10 kills on 18 attempts, mixing in a pair of digs. Five Bulldogs notched at least five kills while Sydnee Carter assisted 26 times, her third most on the season.
South Alabama dominated the first set, taking the first point and never relinquishing the lead. The Jaguars took a 10 point lead late, winning the set 25-15 on .481 percent hitting. Woods found six kills in the first point on 10 attempts, four more than the next closest Bulldog.
Set two was a battle with 15 ties, the most of the weekend series. South Alabama took a one point lead into the media timeout and a 22-19 lead to force a LA Tech timeout. The Bulldogs rallied, tying the game at 23-23 to force a Jaguars timeout. With serve at 27-all, Louisiana Tech found two points, capitalized by an Anaya Hairston kill to take the set, 29-27. It is the highest scoring set for the Bulldogs in conference play this season. Eight Bulldogs registered a kill and four registered an assist.
The third set was just as tightly contested as the second with a dozen ties and five lead changes. South Alabama again took a close lead at the media at 15-13. Trailing 20-15, the Bulldogs ripped seven points in a row to take a two point lead. The Jaguars took control, ending the set on a 6-2 run and win the set 26-24 in extra points. Rodriguez led the team with four kills on six attempts.Â
South Alabama took the lead 3-2 in the fourth set and never looked back. LA Tech kept it close late, forcing two timeouts as they brought it to 20-19, but the Jaguars closed the match on a 5 point run, winning match point 25-19.Â

- Woods led the team with 15 kills, her second most as a Bulldog.
