Preview: LA Tech at Ole Miss

Bulldogs begin five-game road trip with SEC matchup

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball begins a five-game road trip featuring two Southeastern Conference opponents and a three-game Conference USA series, starting Wednesday at 5 p.m. against Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. The game will be streamed on SECN+.

Wednesday's contest will mark the 18th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Rebels. Ole Miss leads the series 13-4 and has won nine straight against LA Tech dating back to 2011.The Rebels have won five games against the Bulldogs since 2022, including an 8-3 victory over Tech last season in the Rocket City Showcase in Huntsville, Ala.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
 
The Bulldogs moved to 17-10 (3-3 CUSA) after sweeping Delaware this past weekend. LA Tech outhit the Blue Hens 26-12 while outscoring UD 24-7 with two shutout wins. Tech defeated the Blue Hens 5-0 in game one, 8-7 in game two and 11-0 (5) in game three. It marked the 11th CUSA series sweep under head coach Josh Taylor
 
Senior pitcher Allie Floyd logged a 2-0 weekend with one save and earned CUSA Pitcher of the Week honors. The right-hander tossed two complete-game shutouts and recorded a save against Delaware. The senior logged 13 innings in the circle and allowed just five hits, none for extra bases. She posted a 0.00 ERA with 15 strikeouts. Floyd tossed a one-hitter in Sunday's 11-0 win.
 
Elena Heng tallied six hits in the series and now leads the Bulldogs with 38 this season. Bradi Gallaway totaled six RBI and is up to 25 this season, which ranks second on the team behind Reagan Marchant's 27. Marchant and Gallaway both added three-run home runs in Sunday's win. Marchant leads the team with eight homers while Gallaway has six.
 
LA Tech has six players with 20 or more hits in Heng (38), Aleah Brooks and Allie Furr (29), Gallaway (27), Reese Torres (24) and Marchant (23). Marchant (27), Gallaway (25) and Torres (21) all have 20 or more RBI.
 
Marchant leads the team with 19 runs while Torres and Gallaway have scored 18 times.
 
Floyd moved to 7-6 after her three victories. She eads the team in innings pitched (78.1), ERA (2.50) and strikeouts (68). Bryannah Campos (4-2) and Laney Johnson (4-0) both have four wins in the circle. Johnson has thrown 43.0 innings while Campos has tossed 34.2 innings.
 
ABOUT OLE MISS
 
Ole Miss enters Wednesday's matchup with a 19-11 mark, including an 8-3 record at home. The Rebels were swept by Texas this past weekend and move to 0-6 in SEC play.
 
The Rebels were run-ruled twice in their series with the Longhorns, falling 11-2 (6) on Saturday and 15-3 (5) on Sunday.
 
Ole Miss is batting .312 as a team and they have outhit their opponents 243-175. Persy Llamas leads the team with 40 hits and 27 RBI. Madi George is batting a team-high .420 and leads the Rebels with eight homers. Ole Miss has homered 36 times this season.
 
The Rebels have a 3.54 staff ERA in the circle. Kyra Aycock (8-4) leads the team with eight wins, while Lilly Whitten (5-0) and Emilee Boyer (5-6) both have five wins in the circle.
 
Boyer leads the team in innings pitched (67.1) and strikeouts (60) while Boyer leads the staff with a 3.00 ERA.
