RUSTON – After helping Louisiana Tech to a pair of key road victories,
Zoie Epps was named Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, in announcement made by the league office Wednesday.
Â
Epps helped lead the Bulldogs to 4-1 wins at both UAB and conference foe Jacksonville State this past weekend, extending the team's winning streak to five matches.
Â
The junior was dominant in both matches at the No. 1 position in singles, winning both in straight sets while surrendering a total of just five games. She defeated UAB's Kristyna Damaskova 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday followed by a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jax State's Polina Ramenskaja on Sunday.
Â
As a result of the wins, the Norman, Oklahoma native now has 44 career dual singles wins at LA Tech, tied for the 10th most in program history. She is 8-1 overall this spring, having won five straight.
Â
This marks the fourth time Epps has earned CUSA Athlete of the Week honors. She has also earned five CUSA Doubles Team of the Week awards, including two this season with partner
Isabella Walker.Â
