ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
The Bulldogs return to the court after historic success last season, finishing 17-4 with a program leading .810 winning percentage and the No. 1 seed in the Conference USA Championship.
Head coach Amy Sargeant brings back two veterans in Maria Tsironi and Nina Skoric while adding six newcomers. Of the six, four are transfers and two are freshmen.Â
Tsironi is a third year player from Argyroupoli, Greece who went 10-6 in singles dual matches last season and earned second-team All-CUSA doubles honors. Skoric is a fourth year player from Paris, France, entering her third season in Ruston, also having earned second-team All-CUSA doubles honors last season.Â
Transfers Manai Ennaciri (South Alabama), Natalia Trigosso (Nebraska), Emma Cohen (Mississippi State) and Lucia Gallegos (Louisville) are all third year players except for fourth year player Ennaciri. Freshmen signees Alexandra "Lexie" Patton and Carolina Correia round out a young core.
Coach Sargeant enters her fourth season at the helm of Bulldogs tennis, having one of the most successful stretches in program history. Last season's team posted a perfect 5-0 record and won nine straight matches, peaking at No. 64 in the ITA national rankings. Sergeant was named CUSA Coach of the Year as she headed into the first season of Sun Belt Conference competition.
