Series History: LA Tech leads 13-8 (since 1990)

The Bulldogs are set for a fourth-straight game facing the Bearkats, this time on neutral turf. LA Tech secured a seventh CUSA series win after taking the first two games of the weekend over Sam Houston before the season finale was blemished with a 6-0 shutout at home.

In the last 13 matchups against the Bearkats, LA Tech has come out victorious in 11 of them.

Declan Dahl, who was named the CUSA Newcomer of the Year and a First Team All-CUSA member, is three strikeouts away from tying for the ninth-most in a single season in LA Tech history and four from becoming the ninth Bulldog ever to reach 100 strikeouts in a single season.

Dahl is expected to take the mound in Wednesday's tournament opener to face off against Sam Houston's Ryan Peterson, who has been one of the league's top arms this year. Peterson's ERA of 2.86 is the best among CUSA pitchers and his 102 strikeouts are tied with Liberty's Ben Blair for the most in the league.

Peterson fired off four shutout innings in the series opener in Ruston, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out three 'Dogs. Dahl fired off five innings allowing just one run on two hits and a walk while fanning seven Bearkats.

Neither Dahl nor Peterson received a decision from Thursday's contest, with both having worked on limited pitch counts in preparation for the postseason.

Trey Hawsey, who was named to the All-CUSA Second Team Tuesday afternoon, leads the 'Dogs with a .332 average and is one of four CUSA hitters with at least 70 hits this season. Hawsey is slowly creeping up on some all-time numbers, sitting four homers shy of the ninth-most in a single LA Tech season and 11 shy of reaching the all-time top 10 in program history.
