Louisiana Tech fall in a three-set decision to Little Rock on Saturday afternoon at the Thomas Assembly Center, falling 25-20, 25-22, 25-19.
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech dropped a three-set decision to Little Rock on Saturday afternoon at the Thomas Assembly Center, falling 25-20, 25-22, 25-19.
Taylor Woods led the Bulldogs in kills every game during the Jambalaya Jam, finishing the weekend with eight against the Trojans. Sydnee Carter did the same with assists, reaching double-figures all three games.
The Bulldogs were competitive throughout the afternoon, battling Little Rock deep into each of the first two sets. Tech built an early 14-11 advantage in the opening frame and later tied the set at 20 before Little Rock closed on a 5-0 run to take the early lead.
Louisiana Tech fell into a 10-4 hole to start the second set with eight straight Trojan points, but fought back to tie the set at 12. Little Rock outpaced the Bulldogs to win the set 25-22. Woods struck five kills on 12 attempts, adding an assist, a dig, and three blocks.
The Bulldogs took the lead heading into the media at 15-11, but Little Rock closed the game on a 14-4 run to take the match in three sets.
Woods led the Bulldogs offensively with eight kills and added 12 digs, while Gabrielle Hairston contributed six kills. Violet Morrandez was efficient at the net, recording four kills without an error for a .308 hitting percentage.
Riley Steubing paced Louisiana Tech's defense with 16 digs, while Jenna Hehman added 12. Hehman also notched 43 receptions and only one error. Woods led the way with five blocks, followed closely by Violet Morrandez with four.

We faced some adversity today and came close on so many plays. It was the little things that kept us from finishing the play. It is part of the growing process and the learning experience. We have got a little more in us and we are hungry to fix the little things. I am excited to get back in the gym with our kids.
