ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (2-1)
The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-1 weekend after hosting the Jambalaya Jam, defeating Iona (3-0) and Houston Christian (3-2) before falling to Little Rock (0-3).
Riley Steubing is off to the hottest start at libero in LA Tech history. Steubing enters the UNO Tourney as the nation's leader in digs/set (6.09) and is currently third in the nation with 67 digs. The senior libero recorded 31 digs against Houston Christian in a 5 set thriller, a new career high and the second most digs by a player in the country this season.
Against Houston Christian, Louisiana Tech won the match despite falling into a 0-2 hole at halftime. It marked the first time since 2016 that the Bulldogs reverse swept an opponent.
In that match against the Huskies, five different Bulldogs registered at least 10 kills. It is the first time since 2007 against Boise State that five different players had double-digit kills. Taylor Woods and Megan Cooley led the way with 11, while Kylie Rodriguez, Gabrielle
Hairston and Tyra McKinnie followed with 10.
Taylor Woods is the kills leader for the Bulldogs in her first three collegiate games. The freshman from Tyler, Texas registered 10, 11 and eight over the weekend, including an impressive 11/0/32 statline against Houston Christian.
Violet Morrandez changed the math against Houston Christian in her collegiate debut. Morrandez registered seven total blocks in three sets, adding three kills on .333 hitting. The middle blocker from Colorado is the Sun Belt leader in blocks/set at 1.83.
THE OPPONENTS
OMAHA (1-1)
The Mavericks are hosting the UNO Tourney after a 1-1 weekend at the Washington State Tournament. Omaha lost 3-0 to Washington State on Friday, then defeated Central Michigan in three sets.
CHICAGO STATE (0-3)
The Cougars enter Omaha with an 0-3 record, falling to Seattle, Eastern Washington and North Dakota. All three matches were 3-0 defeats.
WESTERN MICHIGAN (3-0)
The Broncos are wrapping up a 3-0 weekend after hosting the Western Michigan Tournament, defeating Green Bay, Navy and Indiana State. The team only dropped a single set across the weekend in Kalamazoo, Mich.
