ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (7-9, 0-2 SBC)
The Bulldogs are coming off a 0-2 weekend against Southern Miss in the Thomas Assembly Center. Louisiana Tech were swept 3-0 in Friday night's match despite a third set rally by the Bulldogs and then lost a 3-1 battle on Saturday. Tyra McKinnie shined, leading the team both matches in kills and added six blocks in Saturday's loss.
Grace Krohn made her return to the lineup, setting a team high 18 assists in only her second match of the season. Krohn also mixed in seven digs, one of five Bulldogs to notch at least seven digs on Saturday.
McKinnie has been sensational for the Bulldogs, tying with Taylor Woods for the most kills with 131 on the season as well as leading the team with 43 blocks. The first year from Glenpool, Oklahoma led the team with 16 kills over the weekend, with nine blocks total.Â
Riley Steubing ranks 17th in the nation in digs/set at 4.76, the second most in the Sun Belt Conference. Steubing notched 16 in Saturday's match, the most by a player in the match.
Louisiana Tech have been one of the best teams in the conference at scoring with the serve. The Bulldogs rank 4th in the SBC with 1.91 aces/set, led by Megan Cooley with 19 aces on the season.
ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA (5-9, 0-2 SBC)
The Jaguars fell to James Madison 3-0 twice in Virginia. Gambria Gaier led the team with 3.20 kills/set and 2.50 digs/set.Â
Dalayla Blackwell is tied for third in the SBC in hitting percentage at .367 and tied for sixth in blocks at 1.19 per set.
Anabelle Cenry ranks second in the league in assists at 9.21 per set, notching 56 assists across the weekend series.
THE SERIES
The Bulldogs lead the Jaguars 14-4 in the all-time series history. It is the first matchup
since September 20, 2019, a 3-0 Jaguars victory in Mobile.
