OMAHA, Neb. – Louisiana Tech volleyball falls to Western Michigan, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 15-25) Saturday afternoon at Baxter Arena to close out the UNO Tourney.

Taylor Woods led the Bulldogs in kills for the fourth time this season, notching a season high 12 against the Broncos. Sydnee Carter distributed the ball well, assisting 25 times and adding two kills. Riley Steubing continued her libero excellence, collecting a game high 28 digs.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 5-2 lead thanks to a 5-0 run, but the Broncos fought back to tie the game at 12-all. The set would have eight ties and five lead changes and stayed tightly contested throughout, but Louisiana Tech would close on a 3-1 run to take the opening set behind a Megan Cooley kill. Woods notched six kills in the opening set with no errors.

The second set stayed as close as the first with the Broncos taking a 1 point advantage at the media timeout. Western Michigan would spark an 8-2 run to take a late lead, and eventually the set, 25-21. Tyra McKinnie added five kills while Steubing grabbed eight digs. Western Michigan took a strong 15-10 advantage at the media timeout, stretching the lead to as much as six in the set. Louisiana Tech battled late, but the Bronco's took the set 25-19. Cooley notched three kills while Steubing added six digs.

The fourth set was all Broncos, leading as much as fourteen. The Bulldogs found a spark late in the set with four straight points, but Western Michigan would take the set 25-15, winning the match.

Steubing's 28 digs are the third time the senior libero has notched at least 20 digs in a game this season. Carter has also assisted at least 20 times in three games this season.

The Bulldogs return to Ruston for four-straight home matchups. The first comes against Alcorn State on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
