ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (3-3, SBC)
The Bulldogs return from the UNO Tourney in Omaha, Nebraska, going 1-2 over the weekend. LA Tech won their opening match against Chicago State (3-0) before falling to Omaha (3-0) and Western Michigan (3-1) the next two days.
Against the Cougars of Chicago State, the Bulldogs hit an impressive .310, the highest mark of the season. In the three sets of action, LA Tech notched 40 kills and only 14 errors, assisting 37 times. The Bulldogs also posted an impressive nine service aces to only two service errors, the best ratio of the season thus far.
Louisiana Tech had three different kill leaders across all three games. Tyra McKinnie opened the tournament with a 10 kill effort against Chicago State, her first match as the kill leader. Gabrielle Hairston pitched in seven kills against Omaha, hitting .462 in the loss.
Taylor Woods put on a show against the Broncos, notching a season high dozen kills, the most by a Bulldog this season.
Woods has led the Bulldogs in kills four times this season out of six games, leading the team with 54.
The dynamic duo of Sydnee Carter and Emerson Traylor have combined for 200 assists so far this season. Carter has assisted in double-figures in every game this season, assisting 20 or more times in three. Traylor has caught the defense slipping multiple times, adding seven kills on .368 hitting.
Riley Steubing continues to be one of the best liberos in the country, leading the Sun Belt Conference in digs/set (5.38), a mark currently sits at fifth in NCAA. The four-year senior has notched over 20 digs in three games so far, including 28 digs in a four-set match against Western Michigan this past weekend.
ABOUT ALCORN STATE (0-5, SWAC)
The Braves enter Ruston on a five-game losing streak this season, going 0-4 in the LSU-New Orleans/Nicholls Challenge.
Courtney Carter paces the squad with 54 kills, while Jaylynn McNeill follows closely with 46. McNeill attacks with an efficient .294 hitting percentage.
Daylin Saiki distributes the ball for the Braves, having 130 of the teams 181 assists. Her 6.50 assists/set is fourth in the Southwest Athletic Conference.
Christian Webb leads the team with 0.80 blocks/set, the fourth best mark in the SWAC.
