Bulldogs Dominate Braves

Louisiana Tech dominated Alcorn State 3-0 Tuesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center.
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech dominated Alcorn State 3-0 Tuesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Tyra McKinnie and Taylor Woods led the Bulldogs in kills with nine apiece with McKinnie attacking at a .750 clip. It marks the first time a Bulldog has hit above .700 with at least 10 attempts this season. Riley Steubing added another double-digit dig game, adding 13 to her season total.
Louisiana Tech (4-3) controlled the match from the opening point, hitting .375 as a team while holding Alcorn State (0-6) to a .115 attacking percentage. The Bulldogs also recorded 41 kills and 38 assists while limiting the Braves to just 24 kills.
The first set stayed close early with the Bulldogs taking a 15-13 lead into the media timeout. Louisiana Tech would rattle nine points in a row, ending the game on a 12-3 run to take set one. G. Hairston notched four kills in the set, hitting .571 on seven attempts.
The Bulldogs carried that momentum into the second set, opening up an 15-7 advantage before putting together another strong stretch late. Louisiana Tech hit .357 in the frame and closed the set on a 12-5 run to win 25-12. Seven Bulldogs registered a kill in the set, adding five service aces.
Louisiana Tech finished off the sweep in the third set, hitting an impressive .419 with 15 kills and just two errors. The Bulldogs jumped ahead 9-3 early and never looked back, cruising to a 25-15 victory. McKinnie was a machine, scoring five kills on seven attempts and no errors. Woods followed closely, notching four kills of her own.
Sydnee Carter and Emerson Traylor continue their setting excellence. Carter assisted a game high 18 times while Traylor followed with 14. Traylor scored three times on five attempts while Carter went a perfect two-for-two.
Riley Steubing fortified the backline, grabbing 13 digs and assisting three times. Steubing has registered double-figure digs in every game except one this season.

Our decision making was great and it led to so many different players get kills. So much of it comes from first touch being so good.
