Tennis Techsters Look To Continue Surge At Delta State
Louisiana Tech's Tennis Techsters look to win their fifth match in six tries Sunday as they play a 2 p.m. match at Delta State in Cleveland, Miss.
Tech stands at 5-8 on the season while Delta State is 12-3.
Since March 12 Tech has defeated Lamar, Centenary, Louisiana-Monroe and Texas-San Antonio with its only loss over that stretch suffered against No. 42 Southern Methodist.
"We just have to try and keep things going," Tech interim coach Terrence DeJongh said. "The good thing is that we've built some momentum and confidence, and hopefully that will play a big role against Delta State.
Four Tennis Techsters have winning records in singles play with Katie Westbrook at 7-3, Monica Kelly at 7-5 and Avril Martinez and Anabella Duque both at 7-6.
Tech's No. 3 doubles tandem of Duque and Andrea Moncada stands at 2-0 while the No. 1 doubles pair of Holly Ready and Kelly are 5-5. Tech's primary No. 2 team of Saharai Uriarte and Martinez stand at 4-6 on the season.
