Updated Oct 28, 2005 14:30:07 Grambling Nips Tech Bowling by Three Pins

The Grambling Tigers squeaked by the Lady Techster bowling team by knocking down a total of 2,429 pins to Tech's 2,426 pins at the Grambling Bowling Center last night.

Grambling won game one by 60 pins (778-843), but Tech came back to even the score at 1,626 after two games. Then, the Lady Techsters failed to carry that momentum into the third game and lost the match by only three pins.

Keya Smith led Tech with an average of 172 through the three-game match, while Crystal Lites had a 169 average and Zyndra De Jongh bowled a 164 average. Toria Miles added a 154 average, and Brandi Castle wrapped up Tech's five-player team performance with an average of 149.

De Jongh had the highest game score of the match with a 208 in game two, and Smith's high wasn't far behind, as she had a 192 in game one.

The Lady Techsters will return to action this Sunday when they bowl against Texas Southern, the defending Southwestern Conference champions and the No. 10 team in the country.
