Techster Bowling Ready for First Road Trip

Oct. 23, 2008

RUSTON--The Louisiana Tech bowling team will look to bounce back after going 4-9 last week in the Bossier City Shootout as they will travel to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Central Region Fall Jamboree on October 25-26.

Tech's 2008-2009 team features two freshmen, two sophomores one junior and only one senior. In their season opener they showed signs of their inexperience after dropping three games by a total of 20 pins, each loss by no more than eight pins and one of the losses coming after holding a three games to one lead over Grambling State.

"We went 4-9 and six of those nine losses could have been wins, Tech head coach Shawn Jackson said. "That's just a sign of a young team and we just have to keep working and getting better every week."

The Techsters top performer in the tournament was junior Stephanie Hinz with a 176.3 average earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Next up for Louisiana Tech is the Central Region Fall Jamboree in Jonesboro, Ark. The six team field features top-notch teams including last season's national runner-up and host team Arkansas State, Central Mo. Who has been in the past five national championship tournaments and top ten ranked Southern University.

"It's definitely going to be a tough test for our team," said Jackson. "It is our first road trip of the season and it's against three powerhouse teams, so I'm looking forward to seeing how our young team fares."

"Every week is a different week and a different tournament," said Jackson. "We have to forget what happened last week and just take it a week at a time."
