Five Minutes with Houston Granger

Houston Granger plays a vital role as one of the freshmen on the Lady Techsters bowling team. In our first weekly installment of "Five Minutes with a Student-Athlete," we interviewed the bowling enthusiast and learned quite a bit about her life, Tech, bowling and much more.

LATechSports: Where are you from?
Granger: McKinney, Texas

LATechSports: Do you have a nickname?
Granger: H-Town

LATechSports: What are you majoring in?
Granger: Business Management

LATechSports: What do you enjoy the most about Tech?
Granger: I think the campus and the people are great.

LATechSports: What are your plans after college?
Granger: After I graduate from Tech, I hope to open up a bowling alley.

LATechSports: What is your greatest achievement?
Granger: I would have to say earning a bowling scholarship is probably my greatest achievement.

LATechSports: Who inspires you and why?
Granger: My sister, Vanessa, because she travels and lives her life to the fullest.

LATechSports: What was your first job?
Granger: My first job was at Little Caesars Pizza.

LATechSports: What are your hobbies?
Granger: I love to bowl and play racquetball.

LATechSports: When did you start bowling and what made you decide to play?
Granger: My parents taught me how to bowl when I was six because they enjoyed playing the sport.

LATechSports: What is your all-time favorite sports moment?
Granger: I would have to say bowling my first 300 game.

LATechSports: What song or artist do you listen to before a game?
Granger: Britney Spears

LATechSports: Who do you contribute your success in bowling to?
Granger: My dad, David

LATechSports: Would you ever do something extreme or adventurous? For instance, rock climbing, bungee jumping, ect.
Granger: I have rock climbed before, but I don't know about bungee jumping!

LATechSports: Can you impersonate someone? If so, whom?
Granger: Yes, I can impersonate my grandma.

LATechSports: Have you ever met a celebrity?
Granger: No, sadly I have not.

LATechSports: If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Granger: Italy

LATechSports: What is your favorite movie?
Granger: Happy Gilmore

LATechSports: What is your favorite food?
Granger: Mint chocolate chip ice cream

LATechSports: What was the strangest costume you wore for Halloween?
Granger: One year, I dressed up as a cow.

LATechSports: If you had the opportunity to live your life to the fullest for one day, what would you do?
Granger: I would travel to Australia and snorkel. Then, I would travel to Europe and eat at the best restaurants.

LATechSports: What is the funniest prank played on you or by you?
Granger: Once I taped down the handle on our kitchen sink sprayer at home, and when my mom turned on the water, she got soaked.

LATechSports: If you were stranded on a beach, what five things would you need to survive?
Granger: I would need matches, my bed, ice cream, a raft and sweet tea.
