CHOUDRANT - Louisiana Tech will host the 16-team Bulldog Classic collegiate golf tournament Monday and Tuesday at Squire Creek Golf Course as head coach Jeff Parks and Co. welcome some of the top teams in the country.
The event will be played on the par 72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Golf Course which features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Fazio. The course has twice been ranked as number one in the state of Louisiana, and was ranked as one of the top 10 best new courses in America by Golf Digest.
Monday will feature two rounds, including an 8 a.m. shotgun start while it will wrap up with Tuesday's final round which will also begin at 8 a.m.
In addition to the Bulldogs, who are ranked 110th in the country entering the tournament, the event is highlighted by 46th ranked Rice, 47th ranked Southeastern Louisiana, 54th ranked Mississippi, 71st ranked New Orleans, 88th ranked Oklahoma and 96th ranked Stephen F. Austin.
The tournament also features programs from Austin Peay, Centenary, Houston, Jacksonville State, Kansas, McNeese State, Missouri State, Nicholls State and UTSA.
This will mark the third spring tournament for the Bulldogs who finished eighth at the Rice Intercollegiate and 11th at the Mardi Gras Invitational already this year.
The Bulldogs five-man team for the tournament will include Matthew Harvey, Clinton Shepard, Hayden Stephens, Cody Santone and Jonathan Bale.
