LITTLE ROCK - Louisiana Tech shot a two-round total of 13-over-par 589 and currently sits in seventh place at the UALR/First Tee Classic which includes an impressive 18-team field that includes 11 Top 100 ranked teams.
Head coach Jeff Parks Bulldogs shot a first round total of 292 before following up with a second round total of 297 and trails only Missouri (572), Southeastern Louisiana (574), Central Arkansas (576), Lamar (580), North Texas (582), and Iowa State (584).
Tech leads UALR (590), Illinois State (590), Rice (596), UL-Lafayette (599), Southern Miss (603), Oral Roberts (604), Arkansas State (605), UL-Monroe (605), Texas State (607), Sam Houston (608) and Western Kentucky (613).
Jonathan Bale is Tech's top golfer after 36 holes as he is tied for third after his two-round total of three-under-par 141. Bale fired a second round 69 - the second best round of the day out of 96 golfers.
"We got off to a good start today, and we are really looking forward to tomorrow's final round," Parks said. "Jonathan really played well today."
Matthew Harvey is 24th with a total of 147 (73-74), followed by Cody Santone (T26th, 73-75=148), Clinton Shepard (T59th, 74-79=153) and Hayden Stephens (95th, 83-79=162).
Missouri's Stuart Ballingall fired a second round nine-under-par 63 and a two-round total of 12-under-par 132 to grab a seven stroke lead in the individual competition. UL-Lafayette's Philipp Fendt is second with a 139 followed by Bale and five other golfers at 141.
