Tech Golfers Among Impressive Field in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK - The Louisiana Tech men's golf team will compete in the annual UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic this week at Chenal Country Club (March 29-30) as part of this year's 18-team event, which features 11 teams ranked in the top-100 nationally in GolfStat.com's latest rankings.

The Bulldogs enter the event ranked No. 109 in the country by GolfStat.com, and will look to snap build on the momentum of its 3rd place finish at the Bulldog Classic two weeks ago.

Head coach Jeff Parks team will try to snap Lamar's recent run of success at Chenal CC. The Cardinals have captured the team championship three of the last four years, including a tournament record 832 54-hole total in 2007.

Two-time defending champion Gideon Pienaar of Central Arkansas returns in search of his third-straight title at Chenal CC. Pienaar captured medalist honors in 2008 with a three-over par 219 total, and repeated as individual champion in 2009 after carding a four-under par 212.

Tech is joined at the event by UALR, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Illinois State, Iowa State, Lamar, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, Missouri, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, Texas State and Western Kentucky.
