RUSTON, La. - Senior right-handed pitcher John Anderson will miss the 2011 season Louisiana Tech head coach Wade Simoneaux announced Tuesday afternoon.
Anderson required offseason surgery on his right arm following the 2009 season and was expected to bolster the Bulldogs pitching staff this season. However, after undergoing rehabilitation while taking a medical redshirt last season, the fifth-year senior was never fully able to recover.
As a two-time letterman, Anderson tallied eight wins and two saves in 36 career appearances while fanning 78 batters in 83.1 innings of work.
A native of Shreveport, Anderson earned his undergraduate degree in marketing from Louisiana Tech this past May.
Tech opens the 2011 season on Feb. 18-20 as the Bulldogs host Southern Illinois, Nicholls State and Grambling State as part of the Louisiana Tech Baseball Classic.
