Tech Tennis Hosts Two Matches in Two Days

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech hosts a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference teams on successive days in women's tennis starting Tuesday against Jackson State at 5 p.m.

The Lady Techsters will host Grambling State on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Tech is 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the Western Athletic Conference following 7-0 loss to No. 60 Fresno State on March 12 in its last outing.

Tech's No. 1 singles player Elne Barnard enters the match with a 3-5 record while last year's No. 1 player, Vivian ten Dolle boast a record of 2-1 in the No. 2 spot.

Alena Erofeyeva and Anna Zurek are both 5-3 in singles, the only Techsters with an over .500 record in singles.

In doubles, it's been Zurek and Barnard that have been the most successful with a 5-3 record, all at the No. 1 position.

Jackson State is 5-2 overall and 5-1 in SWAC. The Lady Tigers will see their first action in nearly a month as they defeated Grambling State 5-1 in their last outing on Feb. 26.

Grambling State is 1-7 in the SWAC and is coming off a 6-0 loss to Prairie View A&M on Sunday.

Last season, Louisiana Tech was 2-0 against Grambling State and didn't lose a single match. Against Jackson State, the Techsters won 5-2.

So far this season, Tech has been successful at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex compiling a record of 4-1.
