SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose State scored three runs in the first and never looked back as the Spartans shutout Louisiana Tech, 18-0, in a run-rule decision on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium.

Trevor Petersen (3-3) was saddled with the loss after he allowed nine runs on just three hits in 1.0 innings of work.

Roberto Padilla (7-3) picked up the win as he held the Bulldogs to just four hits while striking out nine batters on the evening. Nick Borg led the offensive charge for the Spartans as he tallied five RBI on a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

Louisiana Tech (18-19, 3-6 WAC) returns to action Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. CT as the Bulldogs look to rebound in a doubleheader.
