Commencement Ceremonies Held for Clint Ewing Tuesday

May 18, 2011

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech University President Dr. Dan Reneau invited baseball student-athlete Clint Ewing to his office Tuesday for a personal commencement ceremony honoring the senior's graduation. Ewing will be on the road with the baseball team while the regular commencement ceremonies will be held at the Thomas Assembly Center this weekend.

Ewing graduates from Louisiana Tech with a 4.0 grade point average with a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering. Following the 2010 season, he was named a third team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American and was the recipient of the Chi Epsilon (civil engineering honor society) National Scholarship for the Southwest District. He is a two-time member of the Academic All-WAC team and has received the Presidential Scholarship - the highest honor awarded to non-National Merit scholars -- and the Department of Transportation and Development engineering scholarship.

"Clint is probably the best student-athlete we have ever had at Louisiana Tech in any sport," said head coach Wade Simoneaux. "His perfect grade point average mixed with the amount we traveled over the last four years is impressive. He will be greatly missed."

A native of Shreveport, Ewing enters the final weekend of regular season play Friday as Tech opens a four-game Western Athletic Conference series at Sacramento State. The Bulldogs are looking to clinch a berth in the WAC Tournament, held May 25-29 at HoHokam Park in Mesa, Ariz.
