MESA, Ariz. - Louisiana Tech senior Will Alvis and freshman Ryan Gebhardt were named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, announced by the conference office late Saturday.
Alvis and Gebhardt were honored as Louisiana Tech was the only team not in the championship game to place players on the All-Tournament team.
Alvis led the Bulldogs over Tech's four WAC Tournament games with a .500 average, with five of his eight hits going for extra bases. Alvis hit two home runs, scored five times, drove in four runs and had a 1.063 slugging percentage.
Gebhardt ended the year on a 17-game hitting streak and was second on the team with a .438 average in tournament play. He scored four times, drove in three runs recorded seven hits in 16 at bats, notched eight total bases and was walked twice while stealing one base.
Tech went to the elimination bracket final game, just one win away from the tournament championship game and won more games at this year's conference tournament than in any other season. Tournament champion Fresno State led all others with seven named to the all-tournament team while runner-up Hawaii placed three on the all-tournament team. Fresno's Dusty Robinson was named the tournament MBP.
