Game Notes - Utah State
RUSTON - After consecutive losses to Idaho and San Jose State, the Louisiana Tech soccer team aims to close out the regular season on a high note as they face WAC-leading Utah State in Logan, Utah tomorrow at 1 p.m.
The Lady Techsters (12-3-4) are currently tied for third place in the conference standings with Seattle U and are looking to get back on the winning track prior to the start of the WAC Tournament to be hosted by the Aggies (10-2-6).
Coming away with points will be a tall order though for LA Tech as they have never beaten Utah State in the seven years they have been conference opponents. Last season, the Lady Techsters fell in Logan by a score of 3-1 at the hands of Heather Cairns' squad.
To get the programs' first ever victory against the WAC power, the team will need to rely heavily on freshman midfielder Brittany Beddow, who has emerged as the points leader with 16 and has both goals to her credit in the past two losses.
On defense, freshman goalkeeper Corina Brown and the backline which has been so dominate will have to reorganize and regroup after giving up multiple goals in the two losses. Utah State has a trio of scorers who have double digit points on the year in Mari Miyashiro, Jennifer Flynn and Jade Tarver.
Regardless of the outcome, LA Tech will find itself playing in the first round on Nov. 1 at the Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field in only their second WAC Tournament qualification ever and can finish anywhere from a No. 3 seed to a No. 5 seed.
