BATON ROUGE - For the second time in as many days, Louisiana Tech took 15th ranked Michigan down to the final at bat but a leadoff home run by Amanda Chidester in the bottom of the seventh lifted the Wolverines to a 5-4 win over the Lady Techsters.
Tech tied the game in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly RBI by Meghan Knowles that scored pinch runner Charday Wilson from third base. However, Chidester completed a three-hit performance with the walk-off solo shot to centerfield.
The Lady Techsters (1-2), who fell 7-6 to Michigan Friday, took an early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Janna Frandrup, scoring Amanda Krueger who reached on an error.
Michigan answered with two runs in the first on three hits although Tech starter Mel Goff pitched out of trouble, leaving the bases loaded.
In the top of the second, Tech sophomore outfielder Katelynn Hill continued her assault, launching her third home run in as many games to tie the score at 2-2.
After Michigan retook a 3-2 lead in the third, the Lady Techsters tied the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Frandrup, scoring Goff who led the frame off with a walk and who advanced to second on a single by Amanda Krueger.
Michigan retook the lead at 4-3 on a solo home run by Taylor Hasselbach in the sixth, setting up the seventh inning fireworks for both teams.
Frandrup, Hill and Krueger each registered two hits in the game.
