Tech Softball Travels South for Weekend Tournament

LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Tech will travel to south Louisiana for the second straight weekend where the Lady Techsters will compete in the 8th annual Mardi Gras Classic hosted by UL-Lafayette Friday through Sunday.

The Lady Techsters (1-3) defeated Penn State and dropped a pair of one-run games to 15th ranked Michigan last weekend in Baton Rouge.

This weekend they will face 20th ranked UL-Lafayette (3-0) as well as a pair of teams currently receiving votes in the Top 25 in North Carolina (4-0) and Northwestern (2-3). UTEP (4-1) has also been impressive this season while Northwestern State (1-4) is an intra-state rival.

Tech will start the event Friday with a pair of games against Northwestern State (1:30 p.m.) and Northwestern (5 p.m.), and then will play only a single game Saturday against UTEP (9 a.m.). The Lady Techsters will wrap up the tournament Sunday against North Carolina (9 a.m.) and UL-Lafayette (2 p.m.).
