AUBURN, Ala. - Louisiana Tech opens the six-team War Eagle Classic Friday against 20th ranked Auburn as the Lady Techsters will play five games in three days at Jane B. Moore Field.
Tech and Auburn will be joined at the event by Drexel, Presbyterian, Evansville and George Washington as the tournament will run Friday through Sunday.
The Lady Techsters are 10-11 on the season after dropping a pair of 3-1 decisions to 15th ranked Baylor Tuesday as six of Tech's losses on the year have come to Top 25 teams.
Offensively, Tech has gotten production throughout its lineup led by Mel Goff (.400, 7 runs, 2 RBI), Janna Frandrup (.382, 17 RBI), Katelynn Hill (.333, 5 HR, 13 RBI) and Amanda Krueger (.283, 8 doubles, 20 runs). Tech has also received run production from Meghan Knowles (2 HR, 12 RBI) and Dacia Hale (3 HR, 9 RBI).
In the circle, Tech continues to rely upon the arms of a number of players although junior Michelle Jones (6-4, 2.40 ERA) has been the most consistent thus far. Janna Frandrup (1-2, 1.33 ERA) has earned a few spot starts and has pitched well while Goff (0-2, 5.60 ERA) and Erin Kipp (3-3, 6.30 ERA) have also been relied upon in nine combined starts.
Tech will play a pair of games on Friday, including a 12:30 p.m. contest against Auburn and an 8 p.m. game against Evansville. The Lady Techsters two games on Saturday include a 5:30 p.m. game against George Washington and an 8 p.m. contest against Presbyterian. Sunday's lone contest will be against Drexel and will start at 11:30 a.m.
