LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - Louisiana Tech junior Melanie Goff was named first team all-Western Athletic Conference on Wednesday as the league office announced the postseason award winners prior to the start of the conference tournament.
Goff earned her accolades after batting .377 with eight doubles, one triple and one home run during the Lady Techsters 20-game conference schedule.
The San Diego native registered 20 hits in 53 at bats during league action while walking nine times and striking out only even times. She registered a .581 slugging percentage and a .462 on-base percentage.
In the circle, Goff was 1-2 with a 5.00 earned run average in 21.0 innings of work. Goff's most impressive performance came in her last outing, where she picked up the win against perennial NCAA Tournament participant Fresno State at Bulldog Diamond.
Goff will lead the Lady Techsters into tonight's conference tournament opener against Fresno State at 8 p.m. CT in a game that can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM.
